FAQ
Short answers about mining, payouts and claiming. The long version is on How it works.
What do I need to start mining?
A SHA-256d or Scrypt miner and a Base address. Point a SHA-256d rig at stratum+tcp://sha256.potpool.party:3333 or a Scrypt rig (an L7, for example) at stratum+tcp://scrypt.potpool.party:3334, with the username 0xYourBaseAddress.rig1 and any password. See the setup generator.
What does the pool charge?
0%. Every block's full DGB reward goes to the shared syndicate wallet. There is no operator cut and no finder bounty.
When do I get paid?
You don't get DGB. Once a day, if the syndicate wallet holds at least 1,000 DGB, it is swapped to USDC and spent on Megapot tickets, which closes the round. Below the threshold the buy rolls to the next day. If a ticket wins, you claim your USDC share on the round page.
What decides my share?
Your PPLNS weight: the work you submitted in a rolling 6-hour window, measured in SHA-256d-equivalent difficulty. The round page shows "total work" for the whole round, which is larger than the weight in that window.
Is Scrypt mining as fair as SHA-256d?
Yes. Each share counts by its real chance of finding a DigiByte block on its own algorithm, and I scale each round to the SHA-256d difficulty when it started. So work that is just as likely to find a block earns the same weight on either lane. The two lanes' hashrates are different units, so I show them side by side instead of adding them up. Why am I not eligible for a round?
Three gates keep idle connections out: enough cumulative work, a valid share shortly before the buy, and at least 0.05% of the window's total weight. Mine a bit longer or with more hashrate.
Can I run several rigs?
Yes. Rigs sharing a Base address are counted together. Use a different label after the dot for each, for example 0x….rig1 and 0x….rig2.
Can I set the difficulty?
Yes. Put d=65536 in the password, or append +65536 to the username (the Braiins convention). Without it the pool adjusts difficulty automatically. The Scrypt port uses the Litecoin difficulty scale, so pinned values there look nothing like SHA-256d ones. If unsure, leave it to vardiff.
Does it work with rented hashrate?
Yes. Rental marketplaces such as Braiins Hashpower work with a standard username. DigiByte blocks come every 15 seconds, so some rented hash shows as stale. That is expected.
Can I donate hashrate to everyone?
Yes. Name the rig donate, for example 0xYourAddress.donate. Its shares count toward finding blocks but earn no payout weight, so every other miner's share is unchanged while the daily pot grows. Read how donating works →
Do you hold my money?
No. Payouts are claimed from the on-chain MasterEscrow contract on Base with a Merkle proof, straight to your wallet. Claims must be made on Base.
What if I never claim?
After 14 days the unclaimed USDC of a round is swept back into the pool wallet and funds a later ticket buy.
Is this a way to make money?
No, it's a lottery. Most rounds win nothing, and small wins are common but small. Mine for fun with hardware you already run.
